Although Giovanni is a passionate ship builder, his shipyard at Lake Garda is threatened with bankruptcy. His marriage is also not what it should be. When he is accused of murdering his brother he decides to seek refuge in the Dolomite range. He accepts a construction job at the dam, using an alias. Finally it seems as if his good fortune returns when he falls in love with a young girl from the nearby village. Due to Giovanni’s love for this girl he is implicated with the death of one of his young comrads. His moral dilema forces him to return back to his family and to sort out his life.
